GEOGRAPHY
If, for instance, your clouds are yellow
and green is the sun and orange its tributaries,
and always foreigners are the elytra concealing
the summer of things, what can you do:
a tropic of blues, fruit meridians in line,
seas of water spilt on the table,
secret continents, hidden, under the purée;
you have, for instance, the antarctic in pink, persia
mutilated in clippings, anniversary hurricanes,
juggler passages, excesses in the delta,
violet is the order that makes me keep quiet
if the world sings to you on your hands and a red
thaw comes to the surface with all our vices
of verses and narcotics. What can you do
if your clouds are yellow, and green is the sun,
the jungle is carnival and the nile a puddle of watercolour,
if nobody nor the world will never tell you the truth.

Geografia
CHRONICLE
We tie ourselves with the silence
the pacts with God are sealed. Every button
dug in the border
separating countries at war
and two blues marking territories
of sea disappearing in the bodies,
ageing them with the feast
of algae and alcohol
of ancient shipwrecks,
when love used to set sails
at the tropics of the new world
and it wanted to erode you
with the gospel of the skin,
explore your kilometers,
plunder your feet and arm
and take away from you the ex-voto
and the wax that sets on fire
the temple and the walls
of a time archaeologists
would wish to go by
more slowly than us
and cleaner and on deck,
when clothes are now sealing
and varnishes concealing
what we have been in the imperfect,
brief, blissful caesura,
of two lives killing each other.
CRÒNICA
CRÒNICA
Ens cordem amb el silenci
amb què es segellen els pactes
amb déu. Cada botó
atrinxerat a la frontera
que separa països en guerra
i dos blaus marcant territoris
de mar perdent-se en els cossos,
envellint-nos amb la festa
de les algues i els alcohols
de naufragis antics,
de quan l’amor salpava
als tròpics del nou món
i volia erosionar-te
amb l’evangeli de la pell,
explorar-te els quilòmetres,
saquejar-te peus i braç
i endur-se’n de tu l’exvot
i la cera que incendia
el temple i els murs
d’un temps que els arqueòlegs
voldran que transcorri
més lent que nosaltres,
i més polit i a coberta,
quan ja la roba segella
i els vernissos oculten
el que hem estat en la cesura
imperfecta, breu, feliç,
de dues vides que es maten.
BLESSED ARE THOSE WHO BELIEVE IN THE HELIUM
that must save all the baloons at the fair.
I have seen how dreams lost altitude
and gravitated over the clean orphanage playgrounds;
how moisture riddled the pink candy floss
and trains returned, late and empty, from exile;
how moss covered rubber ducks,
how airport revolving doors kidnapped us
and the flight took us to terminals where war forgets,
on conveyor belts, toys of children
who have to inhabit, at home, our room
in Bagdad, Gernika and Sarajevo,
where we can be happy and believe it
without ever having seen it.

i gravitaven als patis polits dels orfenats;
i tornaven, inexactes i buits, els trens de l’exili;
i poder-ho creure sense mai haver vist.
